Salient Features:

1. Biomedical waste management policy at the hospital has been implemented in accordance with the biomedical waste management rules 2016, published in the gazette of India, extraordinary, part II, Section-3, Sub-section (i), Government of India Ministry of environment, forest and climate change. Notification; New Delhi, 28th March 2016, BMWM(Amendment) rules, 2018, MOEF & CC, Gazette notification, 16.03.18 and BMWM (Amendment) rules, 2019, guidelines for handling, treatment and disposal of waste generated during treatment/diagnosis/quarantine of COVID-19 patients, CPCB, version 5, dated 17 July 2020.
2. RTRM Hospital has a dedicated BMW cell under Medical Superintendent. Bio-medical Waste Management cell is responsible for handling all the procedural issues including legal aspects, correspondence, compilation and timely submission of monthly/quarterly/annual reports, timely submission of applications to prescribed authorities, replies to RTIs/ PQs/ show cause  notices (if any), compilation and analysis of data, internal correspondence, planning for regular in-house training and its records, planning regular BMWM Committee meetings and to keep a record of the minutes, analysis and distribution of logistics etc.
3. RTRM Hospital has constituted a Biomedical Waste Committee that is responsible for making specific action plan for hospital waste management and its implementation, supervision and monitoring. 
4. Data pertaining to Biomedical Waste Management is well maintained and monthly, quarterly and annual report is sent to DPCC and DHS. Daily rounds are taken to ensure proper segregation, collection and disposal of bio-medical wastes as per existing BMW rules. 
5. Hospital has Authorisation under BMWM Rules 2016, and consent to Operate/Establish under the Air and Water Act, details as mentioned above.
6. Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Biomedical Waste Management has been prepared and provided to Quality Cell to ensure compliance with existing BMW Rules.
7. RTRM Hospital has an autoclave to pre-treat the biomedical waste as specified in BMW Rules 2016 with amendment 2018, 2019.
8. The hospital has a STP cum ETP with capacity of 150 KLD (STP) and 20 KLD to treat sewage, organic waste and liquid waste.
